The figure of Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, will be revealed

The mysterious figure of the creator of the world's first crypto asset (cryptocurrency) aka bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, became the focus of a dispute in a court case in Florida, United States (US) recently.

According to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the case relates to a lawsuit filed by the family of a deceased man against his former business partners regarding their business assets.

The asset in question is a cache or set of assets worth 1 million bitcoins or the equivalent of US$ 64 billion today belonging to the pseudonym (pseudonym) Satoshi Nakamoto. If converted into rupiah, this value is equivalent to Rp. 908.80 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 14,200/US$).

The family of the deceased man admitted that he and his business partner were Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of the first crypto coin.

Thus the family is entitled to half of the total 1 million bitcoins in question.

Until now, the figure of Satoshi Nakamoto is still one of the unsolved mysteries in the financial world.

It is not known for certain whether he--whether a man or a woman--referring to one person or several people. In addition, another question is why did he not touch a penny of the value of his bitcoin asset wealth?

Arguably, the questions above are at the center of the dispute in the Florida courts as well as the issue of bitcoin itself.

Today, bitcoin has become a $3 trillion market with tens of millions of investors working in it. Since its inception, bitcoin has challenged governments who try to 'tame' it through certain regulations.

Apart from its opponents, bitcoin is also supported by many groups--not infrequently celebrities in the investment world.

With technology that carries the spirit of decentralization, aka without the need for any kind of central bank, or what is called blockchain, bitcoin is considered by some as a way to improve the global financial system which is often fragile and hit by crises.

Behind it all, who is the creator of bitcoin still remains one of the most interesting mysteries of this century.

Matters that cover the mystery above will try to be discussed by a jury in Florida.

Long story short, in February 2018 David Kleiman's family sued his former business partner, a 51-year-old Australian programmer living in London named Craig Wright.

Wright has insisted since 2016 that he was the one who created bitcoin, a claim that was later rejected by most of the bitcoin community.

David Kleiman's family argues that the two worked and mined bitcoins together, which gave Mr Kleiman's family the right to earn half a million bitcoins.

"We believe the evidence will show there is a partnership to create and mine over a million bitcoins," Vel Freedman, a lawyer for the Kleiman family, told WSJ, quoted by CNBC Indonesia, Monday (15/11).

The plaintiffs plan to provide evidence showing that the two were involved in bitcoin from the start.

"It's about two friends who are in a partnership, and about how one of them tries to take everything for himself after the other dies," said Tibor Nagy, a lawyer who observed the trial.

Meanwhile, the defense said it had evidence that would show Mr Wright was the creator of bitcoin and never worked with Mr Kleiman.

"We believe the courts will find nothing to show or record that they were in a partnership," said Andrés Rivero, Wright's attorney.

As The Journal explained, for bitcoiners or bitcoin fans, there seems to be only one piece of evidence that can conclusively prove the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, namely the private key that controls the account where Nakamoto keeps one million bitcoins.

Therefore, anyone claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto must be able to show that he owns the private key and extract, for example, some fractions of a coin from it.
