Facebook Bosses Must Pay IDR 287 Billion If You Want to Use Meta Names, Why?

 Not long ago the giant company Facebook lnc will inaugurate a new name for its parent company to be Meta. The names of the company's subsidiaries such as Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp are still the same or there is no name change.

Quoted from Ubergizmo.com, it turns out that there is a company that is rumored to have used the Meta name for its company before Facebook. The company is called Meta PC LLC, the company is engaged in computers, laptops, tablets, software, and others related to technology.

Meta PC LLC has patented the name in August to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Meta PC co-founders Zack Shutt and Joe Darger have applied for the “Meta” trademark for their PC startup, which sold products under the Meta PC brand in November 2020.

While Facebook only filed for the trademark on October 28, but none of the submissions were approved which means that there could be a legal battle over the name.

However, Schutt and Joe Darger are willing to give the name to Facebook if Mark Zuckerberg is willing to pay them Rp. 20 million US dollars or around Rp. 287 billion instead.

There is no further information whether Facebook will pay Rp. 287 billion or choose to fight in court.

What needs to be remembered, for the class of giant company Facebook, the price is Rp. 287 billion is not much if they want to use that method. Even if Mark chooses to fight in court, it has become a common thing in the industrial world.
