Concerned about privacy? Do this on Chrome or Safari
Ziepnet - Data protection is now a priority for browser manufacturers. Issues like Facebook's Cambridge Analytica scandal have put privacy on a browser's priority list by showing how companies collect data as we traverse the internet.
Apple and Google are at war on the web, with Google aggressively pushing the interactive web to compete with native apps and Apple moving slower because new features compromise security and annoy users.
In fact, there are several things we can do to make our browser more secure. Whether you are a Chrome or Safari user, there are several things you can do.
Chrome

- Click Extensions on the left and enter the name of the extension you are looking for in the search box
- Once we find the right extension in the search results, click Add to Chrome
- A warning will appear explaining what permissions the extension will have for our browser
- Click Add Extension to bring the extension to the browser.
In the same three-dot menu in Chrome, you can also block third-party cookies by selecting Settings, then scrolling to the Privacy and Security section and clicking on Cookies and Other Site Data. Then select Block third-party cookies.
Safari
- Open Safari and click Preferences, then click Privacy
- Select the Prevent cross-site tracking check box
- We can also delete cookies manually. Click Manage Website Data to see which websites have trackers and cookies left on their browsers scree
- Click Remove next to any of the individual trackers you want to remove, or simply delete the entire list by clicking Delete All at the bottom of the screen
- If you're looking for that extra level of privacy, you can install other extensions from the App Store like AdBlock Plus or Ghostery Lite for Safari.
