Increasingly fast, the price of Bitcoin flies to Rp 781 million
Ziepnet - The price of the world's largest cryptocurrency managed to jump nearly 10% on Wednesday morning to around US$ 55,000 or equivalent to Rp. 781 million (when calculated at the exchange rate of Rp. 14,200/US dollar).
Launching from CNN, Thursday (7/10/2021), the value of bitcoin had jumped to US $ 55,000 after news about the investment company founded by billionaire George Soros owns bitcoin.
The surge in bitcoin came one day after the price jumped above $50,000 for the first time in four weeks.
Head of Financial Management Soros thinks bitcoin has even greater long-term potential
"I don't believe bitcoin is just seen as an inflation hedge here. It's crossing the abyss into the mainstream," said Dawn Fitzpatrick, CEO and chief investment officer of Soros Fund Management.
Fitzpatrick said that currently Soros Fund Management has some coins, but not many.
However, regardless of the current state of bitcoin, there are still pros and cons to using cryptocurrencies. Some people, companies, and countries are willing to accept bitcoins while others refuse altogether.
As an example for those bitcoin enthusiasts, El Salvador recently became the first country to adopt bitcoin as a legal tender. Additionally, US Bancorp (USB) announced plans this week to offer more cryptocurrency storage services to large institutional investors looking to trade bitcoin.
However, some prominent business leaders and investors have expressed reluctance to embrace bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Mega-billionaire Warren Buffett continues to criticize bitcoin. So did JPMorgan Chase (JPM) CEO Jamie Dimon in a recent appearance on HBO's TV show Axios.
